Dr Mostafa Alam is a board-certified consultant ophthalmic surgeon with subspecialist expertise in cataract and vitreoretinal surgery. He provides a comprehensive range of advanced surgical treatments, from routine and complex cataract procedures to vitreoretinal interventions such as macular hole repair, epiretinal membrane peeling, retinal detachment surgery, and the management of vitreous haemorrhage or dislocated intraocular lenses.

Dr Alam has played a key role in developing cataract and vitreoretinal services within the NHS, leading initiatives that have improved surgical outcomes, streamlined patient pathways, and enhanced safety standards. He completed advanced fellowships in medical and vitreoretinal surgery at world-renowned institutions, including the Shiley Eye Centre, University of California, San Diego, and Imperial College London. Holding a Doctorate in Medicine (MD), Dr Alam has extensive postgraduate training in the management of retinal diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, and wet age-related macular degeneration.
